At the end of every workweek at OG Capital, we’ve come up with fun activities to boost productivity, relax, bond and give everyone a great start to the weekend. Instead of counting down the minutes to 5pm on Fridays, we often end the week with fun activities. We call it FUN FRIDAY.
So what are Fun Fridays at OG Capital about?

Fun Fridays at OG Capital are a classic fun day where we bring all our employees together for a wonderful shared experience. Every Friday of every week is dedicated to fun games and activities. These activities include games like monopoly, charade, concentration (name of things), complete the sentence, hide-and-seek, arrange-the-numbers, and cup games.

–
Charades:
This fun Friday game is a classic for a reason. This is one of the more fun workplace activities and gets people out of their chairs and away from their desks for a break. Players are divided into two teams. A player from one team is then selected and given a verb or noun to demonstrate. The player has to enact what they have been given in the best way possible to their teammates without talking. If the team guesses the correct name, they win a point. Sometimes we include things that everyone would have a big laugh over. The same thing applies for the next team. Each person typically has one minute to convey the message to their team members. After the rounds, the team with the highest point wins.

–
Concentration (Name Of Things):
I bet you remember this game from school. It’s the perfect cure to wash away all your stress, test your mental acuity, and giggle your way into the weekend. The game is a fun way to keep everyone engaged on Fridays. Everyone is arranged by their position and the anchor initiates the game by chanting “Concentration, Concentration” or sometimes “Conce, Conce”, and continues by giving out the name of the thing to be concentrated on.
Each person will have to guess a variant of what the anchor has given and they typically have about one second to say what’s on their mind. The time could be more than a second as long as they do not say something wrong. For example, if the anchor says names of colors, each person will have to say out names of different colors until someone calls a something that isn’t a color or calls a color has already been said.
–
Arrange The Numbers:
This is a good one for Fun Fridays as it is a good icebreaker and physical activity, which enables employees contribute more to problem solving. Players are split into teams. All players stand in a line, one after the other. Each player in each team is given a sheet of paper with a designated number. The umpire then calls the designated numbers in a random or chosen order. The players from both teams try their best to shuffle themselves in that order as quick as possible. The team that can arrange themselves quickest in the order called wins that round. The game continues until the team with the highest points win.

–
Monopoly:
Monopoly is a popular game in Nigerian circles. We bring the fun of monopoly to work on Fridays at OG Capital. Monopoly is multi-player economic-themed board game. In the game, players roll two dice to move around the game board, buying and trading properties, and developing them with houses and hotels. Players collect rent from their opponents, with the goal being to drive them into bankruptcy. Money can also be gained or lost through Chance and Community Chest cards, and tax squares. At various times there is bidding for certain properties. Players receive a stipend every time they pass “Go”, and can end up in jail, from which they cannot move until they have certain conditions.
You can imagine the amount of chaos and talking that goes on during the activity. Monopoly is a perfect way to maximize interaction. Monopoly improve cognitive processes like memory, critical thinking, decision making and communication.

Sometimes, we take our Fun Fridays outdoors. We visit parks and play outdoor games. This gives us the chance to interact outside the office.

These activities are supposed to be not only enjoyable, but also productive. They help the team learn about each other how each person thinks, works, solves problems, and have fun which indeed helps in building a strong bond. We believe that, such activities are critically important for the success of any organization. In fact, the personal bonds formed between team members actually gives our organization a competitive edge.
At OG Capital, we have our dress codes for each day but for fun Fridays we dress it up a notch. We kit up in casual wear and our OG Capital T-shirts. We love to keep things fun since we are still in the grind of the startup world. Fun Fridays are open to everyone and not just OG Capital employees. Some of our investors have joined in on some of our Fun Friday events.
